Siteground Setup Tutorial
Siteground is one of the easiest hosts to get started with in terms of launching your new blog, online shop, or forum. Thanks to Siteground’s unique site setup tool, using their unique hosting packages, you can quickly set up a fully function site in just a few clicks. Here’s a quick explanation of how to set up a website using Siteground step by step.
Step 1: Sign up for an account
The first step is to sign up for an account and tell Siteground which type of site you want. Then you will be taken to the customer area, where the helpful getting started wizard will appear after you log in. Then you can set up your website, answering just a couple questions to select the best site (such as a personal or blog site, a business or online shop site, or a non profit educational site) to best suit your specific needs.
Step 2: Select design and style
The second step is to select your design. Siteground will choose the software platform for you and display a number of designs you can pick from. Then you just need to click and choose the one you like best. You can always change this, as well.
Step 3: Publish your site
Now, for step 3, you’re finished and the site is live. The getting started wizard creates the website and publishes it in a fully functional form to show you everything you need to get started with it.
Step 4: Get a call from Siteground
For step 4, the company will actually give you a call — yes, that’s right, a phone call. They will ask you how they can help next, if you had any doubts with the setup or would like to know what to do next. The company is fully available at all times to make sure you get whatever help you need.
Once you have your site setup, you can login through the customer page. You will receive a username and password for setting up your sites as soon as you create your account. They will then send you a reminder if you have forgotten your user name or password.
Additional FTP uploads
If you would like to upload your site using FTP, the company also provides an easy way to do that. Simply log into your customer area and find the manage account button for the account where your FTP username and password are stored. Next, select your cPanel/FTP password — or if you have forgotten it, do a quick reset. You will next need to set up your FTP client (such as FileZilla or Cyberduck).
Then, simply click to drag and drop your site from your desktop to SiteGround’s platform. Once you have all your files up, you should be able to view them using cPanel.
Account Setup Wizard
You can use SiteGround’s Account Setup Wizard to start your account setup for the first time. The tools available here include the wizard overview and a new website upload or transfer option if you have a sit hosted with other servers. The great thing about this tool is that it pops up as soon as you have signed into your customer area, where you can choose to start a new website, transfer, or simply close out of the wizard if you prefer to do it on your own.
